Media and Information Literacy: Day 12
For our twelfth day of MediaLit1718, our teacher, Mr. Opiana, tasked us to interview any faculty member, staff, SSG member, club officer or class officer for getting information. We were given guide questions that we would ask our interviewee in order to gain information in our school.
Guide questions:
1. Introduce the respondent for the interview.
2. Ask the respondent to briefly explain their role in the school community.
3. Ask the respondent to share the type of information they are responsible for, or the information that they receive and pass on to the school community.
4. How is the type of information that you handle helpful to the school community? In what ways does passing on this information help the school community?
5. How do you know that the information you pass on is true?
6. Are these pieces of information available in popular media?
((will update the video soon))
We were also tasked to write an essay about on how people are able to find information that matches our needs and how do we choose from the wide variety of information sources. My answers can be found below:
1. How do people find information that matches my needs?
A lot of people can have a wide range of sources where they can get information from. Since what information that we need changes from time to time, the people that have our needed information usually gives additional info about a certain subject. People who would match my needs would most likely have the most detail compared to other sources. When I need to research about a certain subject, I usually go to information sources that have complete and detailed information about the subject. For example, if I need to look up an article about a current event in our country, I would go to articles and newspapers that are either published online or printed. The perfect article or newspaper would contain the date of the event, how it happened, what the event is about, why is it happening and where did it occur.
2. How do I choose from the wide variety of information made available by different sources?
As stated earlier, I would choose to get information from a source that has more detail compared to other sources. From our lecture, I would also choose an information source that can be trusted and relied on. Not only that, I would also mostly need other related sources to gain my needed information.
